Lumivyöry / Avalanche

Viime viikonloppuna oli rajuin myrsky 30 vuoteen. Huomattavan suuren lumisateen seurauksena lumivyöry rysähti kylään lauantaina aamupäivällä. Kymmenen taloa siirtyi useita kymmeniä metrejä kohti keskustaa vyöryn mukana. Vyöryssä kuoli kaksi ihmistä ja noin 180 on evakuoitu kodeistaan toistaiseksi.

The recent storm with hurricane-force winds accumulated enormous amounts of snow into lee-side slopes. This resulted in a very large avalanche that crashed into the town on Saturday morning. Two people have died with several injured still in hospital. It could have been much worse but this is already pretty bad.
