The approaching summer is obvious: no need for headlamps during skitrips -- except when digging things from the bottom of the backpack. At noon, the southern horizon is surprisingly bright with orange and red colours. Half of the town seemed to be driving snowmobiles back and forth, but we did not see any other skiers on the other side of the fjord. The snow conditions on the downhill were a surprise. As in "the snow changed from spot to spot and regularly surprised the skier's balance".
