A couple of telescopes aimed to the other side of the home fjord usually means that there is something interesting to see. A small crowd of colleagues and students waiting for their turn to look could only mean one thing: polar bears! Indeed, a mother with two cubs was hanging out on the home fjord. Or the mother was resting and the cubs were eating the rest of a reindeer. It is unusual for a polar bear to catch a reindeer, so it is unclear how they got their claws on one. A very good meal, nevertheless. Because there are many huts in the area, the Governor first let the bears eat and then chased them away with the helicopter. This actually protects the polar bears by discouraging them to hang out where there are humans.
