Fancy spending a winter in the north? I mean, really north and alone in a small historical hunting and fishing cabin with the amenities from the early 1900's? There are a number of protected cabins from the era of whaling and walrus hunting. If you are willing to be the janitor and caretaker, the Governor offers an opportunity to spend a year out there for those that are sufficiently competent arctic survivors and have good luck in lottery. The link to the application details is above... And, yes, I do know people who have spent a year out there: the trip with a dog sledge to visit the nearest neighbours takes several days -- one way. And the neighbours are living in a similarly sized small hunting cabin and you still need a couple of days to a week to get back home. And possibly hunt for seals to feed the dogs on the way.
