Duunarit on mölynneet meidän varsinaisen kämpän kosteusvaurion kanssa aikaisesta aamusta alkaen melkein pari viikkoa, mutta nyt on ollut hiljaista. Lämpöpuhaltimet pörisee itsekseen ja ilmeisestikin odotellaan, että rakenteet kuivuisivat, jotta voisi laittaa lattian takaisin paikalleen. Veikkaisin, että paluumuutto tapahtuu ensi vuoden puolella. Noin muuten meno on samanlaista kuin ennenkin: lunta tarvitaan muutama sentti, minkä jälkeen innokkaimmat moottorikelkkailijat on jo liikkeellä. Nopeimmat on kuulema ehtineet myös ajaa kelkkansa jumiin johonkin paksumpaan lumikasaan...
It does not really look like we'd be moving back into our own apartment this year, but - based on the level of noise - the work progressed quickly to a point where they are just waiting for the building structures to dry. Then they'll hopefully put the floor back in. Meanwhile, we've got some snow and the Christmas lights were switched on. The so-called "Svalbard-meter" for social distances is usually closer to 49-51cm. So far, there have been several tests for covid-19 at the local hospital, but there are no confirmed cases. It will be interesting to see how the situation develops in January. That's the time when all locals, who have been on holiday in the mainland Norway, return back to Svalbard.
