Pulpahdettiin kotimaasta takaisin Norjaan normaalia idempänä suunnilleen Finnmarkin läänin puoliväliin. Ihan hienoa maisemaa sielläkin. Ensimmäisenä tarkistettiin Kristian Birkelandin revontuliobservatorio Haldde-tunturin huipulla Alta-kaupungin nurkilla. Aika hieno kivilinna, joka on nyttemmin DNT:n eli norjalaisen retkeilyseuran erämökkinä. Sitten löytyi mainio telttapaikka, josta pääsi näppärästi satojen kärpästen saattelemana korkealle Nuovasgaisa-tunturin huipulle katselemaan maisemia. Huipulta näkyikin jo seuraava kohde Lyngenissä...
Once we crossed the border back into Norway, we found ourselves in a part of Northern Norway that needed some exploration. The first obvious destination was the northern light observatory that Kristian Birkeland had used when trying to figure out what is happening in the uuper atmosphere and near-Earth space. The restored observatory is now part of the DNT hut network in case you want to stay overnight at a summit. The actual housing quarters in still a work in progress, but we peeked through the window and spotted an upright piano. It is not clear whether Birkeland himself liked to play jazz during cloudy nights or why there is a piano in the first place (and how it had been transported there). Anyway, we then found a nice spot for the tent in the middle of nowhere. A mountain top near this particular Middle-Of-Nowhere had great views to all directions. And that led us to the final trek to another summit in the Lyngen Alps...
