Aurinko valaisee jo lähitunturien huippuja keskellä päivää, joten piti ryhdistäytyä ja lähteä vähän hiihtelemään. Valittiin sitten se viikonlopun kylmempi päivä. Harvemmin tulee hiihdettyä ylämäkeen siten, että on kolme villakerrosta päällä eikä tule sikakuuma. Ei oltu alunperin ajateltu mennä huipulle saakka, mutta huippuharjanteella ei sitten tuullutkaan yhtään. Nähtiin myös ensimmäistä kertaa aurinko täällä kotimaisemissa. Lumi oli yllättävän hyvää, vaikka viimeisestä lumisateesta onkin jo jonkin aikaa.
We chose the coldest possible day to go skiing, but at least we did see the Sun for the first time this year in Svalbard. The amount of snow is still not that great, but we avoided most of the rocks without problems. It was really cold on Larsbreen, but then the wind suddenly disappeared when we reached the ridge leading to the summit. Nice to see be in sunshine, too.
