Pitäis ehkä hieman paremmin tarkkailla tilannetta yötaivaalla. Myöhästyin näytelmän alusta, mutta onneksi tällaisia äkkitilanteita varten voi nettisurffailun uumenista heränneenä laittaa kameran kiinni jalustaan ja jalustan takapihalle. Käsi pitkänä ylettää hyvin painamaan laukaisunappia, minkä jälkeen ulko-oven voikin laittaa kiinni, jottei tule kylmä. Suuntaukset meni vähän sinnepäin ja tarkennuksessakin olis ollut jonkin verran parantamista. Joidenkin luontokuvaajien mielestä tällainen kuvaustekniikka on ehkä huijausta, mut mun mielestä kuvat on ihan ok.
This is the time of the year when one should have the camera always ready for aurora shooting. The best show would have been over before I would even have had the time to dress up properly. So, the quick solution was to put the camera on the tripod, open the backdoor to move the tripod out to the backyard and reach for the shutter release. I eventually had even time to program the camera to capture images continuously. The technical summary is that the Sigma 18-35mm/F1.8 strikes again as my favourite auroral lens. The superwide (for cropped sensor camera) 10mm is too slow at F4.0 if the auroral display is not very bright. There is, however, some truth to the arguments that there are no too wide lenses for a proper auroral show. But I am not planning to switch to a new camera and lens combination. Yet.
