Toukokuun pari ensimmäistä viikkoa urakoitiin tutkan uusien antennimastojen kanssa. Viime vuonna ehdittiin pystyttää vain muutama masto, mutta nyt laitettiin loputkin mastot paikoilleen. Raksatyyliin työpäivät aloitettiin kello 0700 ja useamman kuin yhden kerran kotona oltiin 10-12 tuntia myöhemmin. Pari viikonloppuakin meni, mutta niin kauan kuin sää pysyi suotuisana ulkohommille, niin ei auttanut muu kuin ahertaa. Nyt on mastot hienosti paikoillaan: tarvitaan vielä antennien viritykset paikoilleen, kaapeleita ja testejä. Toivottavasti järjestelmä saadaan taas käyntiin viimeistään syksyllä.
The collapse of the antenna masts a couple years ago has caused a lot of work from climate modelling to hauling 1500kg of ropes to the radar site. We started raising masts already last year, but the snow disappeared before we got to the main antenna array. So, 20 masts needed to be raised. Of course, they needed to be first dug out from the snow - we hired an excavator for the job but there was still lots for us to do. Next steps are configuring the antennas in place and checking all electronics and computers...
